I know land grazing animals might not be much safer...but I've become very leery of the amount of seafood I eat lately. the PNW is king for fish. And I love shellfish...I just don't trust the sea anymore.

I'm partial to a Polish sausage called kabanosy(sp?) After Sandy hit the NY metro area my local source lost their supply for a while, I was surprised at how many internet suppliers there are, might be worth a try. Foortunately NY got back up and running and relief is a short drive away.

I'm still searching for a local source of 'pizza bread' so I can make myself an authentic N Newark double Italian hot dog which for the uninitiated is two fried hot dogs, fried potatoes, peppers & onions, ketchup & yellow mustard on half a pizza bread, kinda like a large, somewhat fluffy pita.

Louisiana has the best food in America and frankly, the whole damn world. Period, point blank. Nothing in this country even comes close. I can buy better food in a Louisiana gas station that i can find anywhere else in this country.

Creole/Cajun is the best cuisine in the universe.

Absolutely. I've had Jambalaya and Boudin from gas stations in Louisiana that's so frighteningly good that i don't know how everyone in the southern part of that state isn't fat as a hog.

They just put their foot in everything they cook.

I lived there for five years and found many many wonderful restaurants that don't serve fried foods. In fact, I eat fried food about once per year and had no problems there.

Your friend must have been eating at KFC.

No. It was something she noticed moving from Wisconsin to Georgia. I do believe the south is known for fried food so it's not really a rip on the south, I'm simply stating what she noticed & what I hear from countless others. And we have KFC up here.

I can assure you that nobody in the South eats fried food every day. I lived there and ate with friends and family every day and rarely had fried food. In fact, Atlanta has some of the best Sushi restaurants in the world. And dozens of upscale restaurants that are as good as any in NY or Boston.
