Community Health Centers were cut $1.8 million for screenings for non-Medicaid
patients. Right now, even if you are not Medicaid eligible, you can go to a
local community mental health center and talk to someone for an initial
screening. Now those people will be turned away.

What else was cut?
Govt agencies are loaded with waste and duplication. The article was from a blog. I wouldn't mind seeing what else was cut before passing judgment.
Doesnt it sound like most of those cuts would be covered by Obamacare? Whats the big deal? He's just pushing the expense to the federal level, something we Republicans said was going to happen but were told we were crazy..

Were these cuts not expected, given the top individual state income tax was lowered from 6.45 to 4.9%? As I understand it, the state legislator rejected the governor's plan to increase revenues by other means to reduce the impact.
Does " Longevity pay" mean that those with 10 or more years of service get a bonus for sticking around? This kind of thing is almost unheard of in the private sector.

"The House 2013 budget puts no new money per child into Kansas public schools." I am NOT surprised you DON'T know that SCHOOLS are a STATE responsibility, NOT the fed gov't.
If Kansas needs MORE money RAISE the STATE TAXES.

Cutting spending to match your revenue....what a radical concept. Just speculation here...but what is fiscal state of Kansas, vs say California? Which one is further in debt, running the biggest deficit and in the greatest danger of insolvency?
Good to see that at least one state is making a start to reduce wasteful spending.
