How can you reason or negotiate with men who shoot a Pakistani school girl in the head just because she wants to go to school? If anyone meets the Taliban even half-way, the first thing to go will be women's rights; the Taliban disapproves of school for any girl over the age of 10 or 11.

You don't. You realize they are living in the 300 BC era and deal with it from that point of view.

Afghanistan is by most measures the worst place in the world to be a woman. Many women in Afghanistan fear a return to power of the Taliban, and a loss of the gains they have made, like an increase in life expectancy from 42 years old to 62 years old.

Despite improvements in security and education, the Taliban have reportedly caused more than 500 schools that educate girls to close.

Thousands of American lives lost in Afghanistan, tens of thousands of Afghan civilians killed, vitally important talks might take place, and nobody can be bothered with this thread, while busy posting on really important topics like L'il Wayne stepping on the flag or Superman being like a gay Jesus.....

I think it's the frustration of knowing that "talks" equates to: "how the h*** can we extricate ourselves from this chithole and give it back to the retarded tribal leaders with at least a bit of pride left."

No one wants to face the fact 12 years of immense cost in lives and money have resulted in exactly ZIP, NADA, ZILCH!

Five minutes after the last aircraft load of folks returns to the west the place will once again be the poppy growing mecca and a quagmire of oppression and heartache.

Just goes to show the world. You can bring the mighty US military to its knees and its masters to the negogiating table. 2 wars in the past 10 years the US has lost....congrats to the Taliban in freeing their country of the imperialist army.

Yah - that whole bit about we don't negotiate with terrorists was a non-starter...How are you supposed to resolve something if you don't talk? Good luck and I hope that an agreement is reached... Who the hell needs this on going head ache anyway? It takes skill to make peace - any fool can wage a raging war.
