Two Taliban leaders — who held high-ranking positions in the now-deposed Taliban government and who are directly involved in the talks — say they’ve recently established a framework of an agreement through the shuttle negotiations. They say the process has included contact with the spiritual leader of the Taliban, Mullah Mohammad Omar. Wow, did even know about these ongoing disscussions, hopefully something positive can come out of it...Taliban leaders report progress in secret talks with the US and Afghanistan | GlobalPost

The only thing that will come out of negotiating with terrorists are more dead innocent people. Another fine example of the Affirmative Action President's naivete. This is what happens when people elect someone who truly hates their own country - they make deals with terrorists.

This should not come as a surprise to anyone. We all know Obama has a love affair with terrorists. Just ask William Ayers.

Mullah Mohammad Omar is NOT one of those "more moderate taliban leaders." He is, or at least was, wanted by the US. There is a $10 million reward for his capture.

All Taliban are moderate. There are two things: extremism and conservatism. So in that sense, we are all moderates – taking the middle path.

Source: Mullah Mohammad Omar
Mullah Omar is in Pakistan, being protected by the Pakistani equivalent of the CIA, the Inter-Services Intelligence, now that Musharraf is no longer in power.

It would be wonderful if this could all be resolved through diplomacy, and not cost any more lives.
On the other hand, look at what happened in Pakistan's Swat valley.
You give these guys an inch, they take a mile, it seems like.

I pray the talks are really working! I don't want to see another American die in that wretched land.

If this is true, I am pleased. Remove the major supporter of the terrorists and we may be able to get something accomplish in the war on terror. We shall see.

First off the Taliban are not terrorists in their own right, they supported them with money and materials, they also fought us when we invaded their nation. Let me ask you this how much progress did Bushy make in Afganistan, where is the head of OBL? If that had been a Demo you would be whining from the mountain tops none stop on that issue, why haven't you. On the other hand, President Obama is trying to get a major road block out of the way and is finally focusing our war back where is should have been all along. So whine away about him being a terrorist lover, no one but your fellow sheepies believe your ramblings. You righties love predictions, so here is one for ya, by the end of Obama's tour of duty we will be at peace in Iraq and Afganistan, and we will be once again respected in the world community, sure beats what Bushy left us.

So you would rather see even more Americans die on US soil at the hands of these terrorists? Why am I not surprised? Obviously another anti-American Obamabot kool-aid drinker.
