I guess this is what 96% support gets you, withering universities and black students tossed out of school because they can't pay.
Tighter federal lending standards yield turmoil for historically black colleges - The Washington Post

Quote:
Federal data show that parent loans for Howard students fell by at least $7 million in the 2012-13 academic year compared with the previous year, a 17 percent decline.

Howard’s 5 percent enrollment drop and loss of revenue fueled a debate over fiscal issues that has roiled the university community. The vice chairwoman of the board of trustees, Renee Higginbotham-Brooks, warned in a letter to trustees disclosed June 7 that the school “is in genuine trouble.” Days later the board chairman, Addison Barry Rand, countered that it remains “financially and operationally strong.”

But the federal lending squeeze, which quietly took effect in the fall of 2011, has reverberated at Howard and many other historically black schools.

Is it any surprise obama hates educated black people who try to work? Don't you remember you didn't build that? Does it surprise communist hate educated segments of society who try to make money rather than wait for welfare? Obama cut off the 2% requirement minority federal contracts law. Why, so he can make sure he cuts off the little chance a black or a mexican had off actually providing work to the federal government.

Lol it was done in 2011 by Dept of Ed officials. If Obama admin has nothing to do with it why are black organizations lobbying his administration to change it?

Denial from the Obambots.

Read the article and it seems to focus on one college because of race, yet this is an issue with the majority of colleges out there regardless of race.

The article outlines the issue as it has affected numerous black colleges. Howard was the focus, yes, but the problem has hit all or most black colleges the hardest. And that's the whole point.

What would have supporting Obama's opponents achieved in this situation? Particularly since they are hostile to these types of loans in the first place.

*SIGH*

Lending standards SHOULD be tightened and people shouldn't be allowed to take on debt they can't afford.

If you can't afford to go to Howard, then go elsewhere. Obama isn't obligated to help you afford an education at a prestigious school.

Unreal.

Historical Black Colleges survived reconstruction, Jim Crow, the KKK, segregation... they will survive Geroge Bush's economic meltdown.

Liberals constantly deny that President Obama has any responsibility over his administration, but oddly think that former President Bush does.

Go figure.
