Yes. The problem is we're not confident in ourselves to really be a free people, so too many of us want to figure out new ways to oppress us with new ways to make something illegal. Too many nanny staters out there from the left and the right.

While I'm ardently for gay marriage, declining to recognize it is not making it "illegal" in the same sense as the word is here being used.
