WASHINGTON — The economy is fundamentally sound despite the temporary "mess" it's in, the White House said Sunday in the kind of upbeat assessment that Barack Obama had mocked as a presidential candidate.
People don't take responsiility for their mistakes because someone else said something at some point in time? Does that make sense to you? That's exactly the problem these days. When people are asked to man up and admit they were wrong, they always deflect and say something like "how about the Dems", or "how about what Romer said in 2009".
Again, address my points in the post where I addressed these "actions' or give it up.

This is true as each committee sets it's own rules. I am not aware of any that has called for minority rule. I am sure you know that politicians can completely ignore committees also and add anything onto another bill. Bush couldn't get even one member to do this?

Bills dont leave committees just on majority rule.

You just proved you dont know a dam thing you are talking about. Banking reform bills are written in committees, and cant get to the Congressional floor without it.

More lies. they had Congressional HEARINGS over the attempt to make reforms
F&F was a small part of the problem, companies like Countrywide and the other banks were the larger issue that was completely ignored.
Countrywide doesn't exist as long as they did without F&F. This is a good place to once again note that nobody at Countrywide has been held responsible in any meaningful way for what happened there.
Why is that?
Quote:
Bush's response to appoint another agency to oversee F&F was weak as was his appointment of one of his old friends to provide oversight, his appointee indicated in 2006 that FF was solid. So where was the concern in 2006, 2007 that the mortgage industry in general was a house of cards.
Countrywide and other banks couldnt have done what they were doing without FF guaranteeing the mortgages and if the equity rations would have been raised by Bush wanted to do.
You keep focusing on FF, small part of the issue and nothing could have taken place without the blessing of Bush and both parties, they all allowed this to happen, no one cared about this in 2006 and 2007 as long as home prices went up all was good, and then.....

Please, address where I was wrong.

Yes they can. Anything can be brought up as an amendment to any bill brought to the floor. The majority is going to get through committee what they want to get through.
All the same all it takes is one person to bring it to the floor as an amendment to another bill.
Can someone introduce a banking reform as an amendment to another bill?
The government currently guarantees upwards of 97% of all mortgages. If you think thats a small part then I dont know what to tell you.

There was attempts beginning in 2003 to reform the mortgage industry, and those reforms would have reduce home prices continuing to go out of control. Yes our economy was based upon a lot of debt created from the mortgage industry, but we dont live in a zero economy. If the money wasnt loaned to mortgages, it would have had to be spent elsewhere.
