The entire article is about Egypt. Why does Israel need to be even mentioned? What's CBNs agenda to list it on their Israel page?
Perhaps it's because of this quote below. It means to me that they escaped and found refuge in Israel, the one non-muslim nation in the region.
Shorham has documented more than 1,300 cases of torture in the Sinai. Those survivors, like Philip, made it to Israel. But most of the cases of torture are not documented.

The same people Israel is trying to deport because they illegally crossed into Israel before the fence was completed. There might be some issues with their verbal documentation.
Slavery/human trafficking is a global scourge. The dark colored nations are the worst:
This is a good thread about a problem that is mostly ignored.
Slavery has been around forever, but it's not particularly "politically correct" to talk about it.
The "Israel connection" is this particular story is that they offer help to those in the Sinai - anyone who is injured, including the Slaves. The Human Rights Commission keeps track of these incidents, but they can't get any interest in the 'Slave problem' in the Mid-East ..... stories about Israel are much more accepted that the Muslim practice of Slavery.
I'm most familiar with the 'slave' problems in Lebanon, but they are similar to other Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia ..... I've read about this practice for years. The issue that is most prevalent is the slavery of women in Muslim countries. The Struggle to End Domestic Slavery in Lebanon.
It's not as 'sexy' as stories about "Christians" that are slaves like in this story - but it is much more common.
The world turns their head, nobody is much interested. I don't know the answer. We can't solve all the world's problems, but it's not "right" (no pun intended) to ignore it. Many of the Philippine 'slaves' were removed from Lebanon in 2006 during the war between Hezbollah and Israel - that's when I first learned on this issue.
There are immigrants who come to Canada and get legal status - who then employ illegals and have them work for nothing - The slave trade is ever where.
