The anti-gays love to argue that same-sex marriage is wrong because it cannot result in biological children between the two partners.

Well, neither can opposite-sex marriages in which the man has had a vasectomy. Furthermore, vasectomies are totally unnatural and are nowhere mentioned in the bible.

So how about it, anti-gays? Should men with vasectomies be forced to remain forever single?

If not, why not?

Forbidden within what context?

Context of the government: The government should not be involved in marriage and thus cannot forbid it.
Context of the society: People are individuals. They can decide individually whether they want to participate in post-vasectomy marriage.
Context of religion: Only applies to the individuals of those religion and cannot have a broad impact across the public.

As dumb as the constant anti-gay posts that expend countless electrons on insisting that same-sex marriage is wrong because it cannot produce children?

Gays can have children. Surrogates, adoption, and in-vitro (for lesbians) are available for gays and straights.

I have seen people try and argue that because gays can't have children with each other then they cannot marry. It breaks down in the first reply when people ask about straight couples that can't have children, or don't want to have children, or even have children from other marriages when they don't intend to have more. It's special pleading that only applies to homosexuals, and becomes plain bigotry.

Gay bashing is pretty moot anyways. The same book that says homosexuality is a sin also condemns wearing cloth of more than one weave of fiber, tattoos, eating shellfish, and slipping your hair/beard. I don't see fundy loons outside of Great Clips, or Red Lobster, saying they have sinned against the Lord. It's selective reading in order to hate.

OK, so if -- as is constantly argued on this forum -- same-sex marriage is wrong because same-sex couples can't produce biological children, why is it "dumb" to ask whether the same rule should apply to men who have had vasectomies? They can't participate in the creation of biological children either.

Sigh. Most guys with vasectomies are all ready married with kids and had vasectomies because its safer than whatever procedures are available for women. Are you suggesting they should be forced to divorce?

And I've seen someone walk into a light pole, so what?

A man and a woman united in marriage will always be different than two men, two women, a dog and a goat, etc. No amount of stupid ideas from either side of the issue will change that.
