As a single male with no children, I'd be paying far too much in taxes and receiving far too little.
You would receive higher education, and medical care plus other welfare. I don't think this kind of system would work in US. It works in Nordic countries because the people want it to work and they make it work. As a dual citizen I could choose to live there, but I choose to live here.
I think the question should be whether or not people think that kind of system would work in US, rather than if people 'like' it.
If the United States brought the Nordic labor system in America.... Would you be for or against it?
As someone who is looking to emigrate , possibly to Denmark or Norway -- I prefer the Nordic system of governing their societies, which are largely homogenous when it comes to ethnicity and values.
However if I stay in the United States, I do not want it here. In Marxist terms, you might say that the United States has a huge lumpenprole class. The systems you describe are abused by the hordes of Americans who feel entitled to support from the government, which erodes support from the taxpaying classes.
Difference between American and Nordic model is that here in the US the personal accumulation of widgets comes before education, health care, infrastructure, ect.

i disagree, i think the u.s. "model" originally attempted to not-assign a value to any of these goods and services. that was the point.
we've deviated from this model in a half-assed attempt to become more like sweden, and because not everyone is on board with that, it has been implemented very inefficiently and unfairly. you can't cross a ravine in two steps.
you you expect EMPLOYERS to GIVE people 1.5 years (18 months) split between the two parents off PAID????
and what is my company getting out of paying a couple 18month of NOT WORKING, NOT PRODUCING????
you need 18 months off....sure...but it wont be paid
you get paid for WORKING, and PRODUCING...not for, not being there
Large and even mid-sized company, government and other public places, even large private businesses could afford giving 18 months paid. If not paid, how about giving them that unpaid? Government may be some of it too.
