Not to say you hate, or want to destroy, or any of that nonsense.
Just that 'birds of a feather flock together'. Is that racism? Thanks.

If you exercise the power to prevent someone from obtaining housing or employment based on your views, then yes.

Personally, I think it's probably racism even if you don't act on it, but...

Sure it very well could be, but the concept of racism is systemic and implies the power and ability to limit the freedom of others based on race. Without the power to oppress others it really amounts to little more than an issue of character. So while a person may very well be a racist in character and motivated by prejudice in his wanting to maintain segregation, his racism doesn't become alive except through the act of oppression of another.

No it's not racist...

Racism is a silly word and it has no meaning. It's such an obtuse tool.

If somebody said "I enjoy being around people that have the same interests as me...and these people, I've noticed, are exclusively white"

Is that racist? No....it's not

But if you say "I enjoy being around white people more than black people" is THAT racist? How?

Are they separatist? Well, maybe....but what if they aren't? Then what?

The problem is the last statement conflates...

Semantics is a dangerous thing.

Well spoken. I understand where you're coming from here.
You kinda hit the nail on the head with the mention of segregation.

I'd feel way more comfortable in a room full of black dudes who are into cars, Asian dudes who are into metal, or Hispanic dudes who are into art, than a room full of white dudes whom I have no commonality with other than the color of our skin.

Eventually the talk of cars, art or metal dies off...

And, anyways that's not the question.

I suppose it's a bit of a gray area. It's human nature to want to be around people with a similar background and interests to your own.

Company is similar to attraction it's just not sexual. As far as sex goes, I am more attracted to my own race and then I rank the others. Not buy any inherent quality or developed prejudice but based on experience and upbringing and stuff like that. Is that wrong? I don't think so.

The work is overcoming this by expanding one's horizons. Usually this is done through socialization at work or school but that doesn't always wipe out your attractions which are more nurture than nature.

So, there's attraction and comfort zones and just plain what you are used to.

Now if you purposely excluded a group of people due to characteristics such as skin color because you were taught that, then you should try to overcome it where you can.
