Whart can you expect from a state that organizes a day of prayer to make it rain? They're living in another century.
Well, not all of us anyway. My Texan ancestors, for generations back, were conservative and religious but I still they'd be shocked if they were alive today with the nuttiness that seems to govern our state government.
It won't have to "withstand the supreme court" - did anybody read this?
These 3 things would have to happen before the "law" could take effect
Quote:
(1) the United States Supreme Court has issued a
decision overruling Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973);
(2) any other state or federal court has issued an
order or judgment restoring, expanding, or clarifying the authority
of states to wholly or partly prohibit or regulate abortion under
the United States Constitution; or
(3) an amendment to the United States Constitution
that restores, expands, or clarifies the authority of states to
wholly or partly prohibit or regulate abortion has been adopted.
The Hysteria about Texas is amazing. I'm pretty sure that all States have CongressCritters that introduce nutty bills that never go anywhere at all (which is exactly what will happen with this).
Turns out that a couple of States have actually passed this bill - but of course, they are not the Scary/Evil Texas - so nobody ever published threads about them.
Quote:
The Texas legislature is on break until July 25. It is unclear if the new bill will be heard in this session, which is the second special session of this legislative year.
The Texas Legislature will NOT hear this bill when it returns from break - the Governor stipulates what can be heard in a Special Session and this is not on the list.
As usual - Much ado about nothing.
