It has just been revealed here in Scotland that 158 0f 160 members of the Scotttish parliament have part of their retirement pension fund invested in tobacco companies and defence companies.
Only six months ago this government introduced a smoking ban in public places in the whole of Scotland, apparently to protect people as there are 13,000 smoking related deaths every year(questionable statistics!).Obviously they think it's still a good enough investment to protect their pensions.
As for defence, most of the British governments contracts for arms sales are to other governments with appalling human rights violations and also fuel war and poverty.A case of total hypocrisy and double standards.

Unlike Scotland, there are no smoking bans in growth markets (China, India). What the gang of MSPs lack in values they more than make up for in market savvy!
Democrats - you really have problems when even the liberal Los Angeles Times calls you out.
Time to clean house.
Oh look, you found google! Haha...google 'Republicans and Hypocrits' and a million other articles come up.
Unlucky for you, every American has the right to vote and the democrats have won the popular vote 5 out of the last 6 presidential elections, so the people have spoken.
With that being said, I think it's safe to say that politicians are hypocritical. All parties. In our system, it's the only way to make it, which is truly unfortunate.

The popular vote doesn't win elections - the electoral vote does.

Most likely the pols investments have to be under a trust where the investments are made blindly. Otherwise too many moral hazards. Apparently the managers of their trust see good gains ahead in tobacco and defense.
Could the pols make a demand to their managers to avoid tobacco and defense stocks? Possibly, but where would that end?
The list was WAY too long to post, so read it and weep.
