Hate it when the media focuses on stuff that is not intended to outrage people. Then again, the attention given to the Royal Birth does seem to cause outrage in some folk.

It's sometimes amusing how much more truly conservative I am than those here claim that label.
Do you really think that "younger consumers" are so absolutely stupid?
Wow, I give them much more credit than you do.

It's irrelevant.
Who cares?
Apparently you and some others do.
Someone at the office mentioned it and I've ignored the entire issue.
You can, too, if it bothers you so much.

It's really not hard to do.
You're all sounding like whiney moms complaining that there's porno or other inappropriate TV on.
You can control what you read and hear.

That's what I already do. Why do you assume I do not?

If someone were to post a racist video that has become prolific and I noted the corrosive effects of this on our culture while not watching a second of it, would your brilliant reply be, "Don't watch it if you don't want to?" Why is it that you cannot separate my personal choice to avoid this type of crap from the effects it has upon all of us, regardless if we partake in it or not?

What an irrational conclusion to draw, or are you just intentionally constructing a strawman?

What effect does the British royal family have on you and your life?

Probably for the same reason there are so many Americans who revere so-called "American royalty". Michele Obama attended the Mrs Carter Show World Tour in Chicago.

Last I heard there is no "royalty" in the US. We don't have kings, queens, princesses. Or maybe we do? Did they play "Hail to the Queen" before Beyoncé went on stage?

Now you're just being intellectually dishonest. The Royal Family themselves have no effect on me. The obsession of the media and with many Americans with it does. I've already stated the deleterious effects. If you wish to disagree, take substantive issue with that specifically rather than creating transparent strawmen like this one and the other.

It seems to bother you that I asked the question about the relevance of a Royal Family in the 21st century. The baby's birth was just a starting point which drew my attention to the fact that people were enduring the sun beating down on them just to wait outside the hospital for who knows how long. Obviously because they think that this family is somewhat above the average mortal human in some way.

I just hope the young woman has a healthy delivery and both mother and child are well- I am not into this hate royalty stuff...any child born is a blessing to all of us. My eldest daughters friend who I have known since she was a child is on assignment for a magazine to cover the birth...Let them have their fun no matter how frivolous we might see this event to be. What would be better...to be ranting in the media about Syria - people need some good old fashioned good news...murder and mayhem get to be distressing and tiresome. I wish the best to this young woman...........and having witnessed birth - I hope she does not suffer to much- I would hate to be in her position...........ouuuch!
