"The Planned Parenthood abortion business must repay $1.4 million dollars in Texas after it was found to have participated in a massive Medicaid fraud scheme.
Last year, a former employee of Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast has filed a whistleblower’s complaint with the Attorney General of Texas and the U.S. Department of Justice. The PPGC employee alleges that the abortion business engaged in an elaborate Medicaid fraud scheme."
This is happening in other states as well. Go to bottom of article for the list. Not much to be surprised about here really.
Instead of the hyper overblown BS twist from a known anti-abortion site, its best to get the NEWS from a REAL news site, of course, ABORTION wasn't even the issue: it was for medication, medical procedures that were overcharged or never given, or couldn't be covered under medicaid.
UPDATE 12:13 pm: The following statement was released by Planned Parenthood, denying most of the allegations in the lawsuit:
“Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast is proud of the high quality health care we provide, and more than 50,000 Texans rely on us every year for essential, high quality prevention services.
“The allegations in this complaint are baseless and we are ending this case as a practical matter. Continuing this litigation in the hostile environment for women’s health would have ensured a lengthy and costly process that would have distracted our energies and required us to share the private medical information of thousands of women. We are ending this lawsuit in order to devote all of our time and energy to delivering high-quality, affordable health care.”
Once again, the Anti-women and anti-choicers have TO LIE in order to spread their propaganda.
Well when you make your money by killing little human beings, you are also the kind who would stoop to committing fraud. The fines should be much higher.

since the PP in question wasn't doing abortions (it provided health care to women and men), care to explain how this applies?

Health Insurance, Medicare and Medicaid fraud is big business. For profit and non-profit hospitals and clinics as well as some MDs make serious money off fraud.
Are we supposed to be more outraged because of the name of the alleged organization?
Plenty of religious affiliated hospitals have been caught doing the same thing.
That some hospitals, clinics and MDs are pond scum does not mean all are.
I live in Houston. Gulf Coast PP had some corrupt people at the top. Sadly, our foolish politicians in Texas used this to snooker our citizens into believing they were banning late term abortion when in fact their goal was to defund health clinics all along. I don't care what anyone says. Today's Republicans in Texas want to punish women for what they perceive as their "mistakes". It's a crying shame what has become of the GOP.
