Review & Outlook: Saving Detroit From Itself - WSJ.com

Don't forget their health care benefits not included in the $23K.

Interesting read - on Detroit's situation. I used a grabber stat from the article.

The Detroit pension system as is, is clearly broken.

I did not realize Coleman Young was Detroit Mayor as long as he was, nor that his work experience prior to that was as a Labor organizer. That explains much. Organizing for whom? Just spread it around a little, no?

From the article:

" Fifty-four retirees are under the age of 20 and earn pensions that average $23,300, according to a 2011 actuarial report.

The actuaries mention as a footnote that the retirement tables "may include records with defective birth dates."

Ya think !

Some of these are among the thousands of retirees on the Detroit disability pension.

They probably got the pensions for no-show jobs.

Detroit is run EXACTLY like the mafia. In fact, modern public sector unions are mostly crime organizations.
