Oh good God, how did we get from "Who you ate dinner with" to "all you commies & gay people can't
make me un-Jewish. or make me like neo-nazies either, because, I date who I want " ?
...Okay... then please explain how my cousin had a DNA test done, and it came back as Ashkenazi Jewish? Hmmm. (to be honest, I don't understand the whole race vs religion thing myself)...
Because the DNA test showed that the DNA matched a pattern that is many Ashkenzi Jews are associated with; no different than the place saying someone is Eastern Orthodox Christian because they have Slavic genes.
Since religion is a man-made concept, there is no relationship between religion and genetics. There is no "Jewish" gene or "Southern Baptist" gene.

Jews are the children of Abraham, and descendants of Jacob, who was named Israel.

But but but... I have Slavic genes too, and have never heard of these DNA tests naming someone as Eastern Orthodox. I'm not saying there's a "Jewish gene," just that it goes deeper than whether you keep Shabbos.
Maybe if you read the whole thread, you'd know how we got there... and if the OP really just wanted to discuss dinner plans, I doubt they'd have posted this in Politics and Other Controversies. You act like this is the first time a thread has branched into more serious discussions, for chrissakes.
And how the HECK does your "translation" in any way mirror what I said? Commies and gay people, liking neo-Nazis?? WTF.
I posted the question in Politics and Other Controversies because race is a frequent topic of discussion here.
I have had meals with lots of different races over the many years of my life, but it was infrequent until lately. If you don't know anyone of other races that would be in your social circle then that is the way it is... nothing wrong with that.
I'm not one of these people who feels life is empty without racial diversity. I also don't go around hating people because of their race. I do prefer living amongst people whom I can relate to. Those who are culturally similar.
