As reported on Wikisource:[3]
  1. Devotion to the cause of Communism, love of the socialist Motherland and of the socialist countries.
  2. Conscientious labor for the good of society: he who does not work, neither shall he eat.
  3. Concern on the part of everyone for the preservation and growth of public property.
  4. High sense of public duty; intolerance of actions harmful to the public interest.
  5. Collectivism and comradely mutual assistance: one for all and all for one.
  6. Humane relations and mutual respect between individuals: man is to man a friend, a comrade, and a brother.
  7. Honesty and truthfulness, moral purity, unpretentiousness and modesty in social and private life.
  8. Mutual respect in the family, concern for the upbringing of children.
  9. Irreconcilability towards injustice, parasitism, dishonesty, careerism, and profiteering.
  10. Friendship and brotherhood among all peoples of the USSR, intolerance of national and racial hatred.
  11. Intolerance towards the enemies of communism, peace, and freedom of nations.
  12. Fraternal solidarity with the working people of all countries, and with all peoples.
Sure, Soviet people never lived up to 12 commandments (or 10 commandments for that matter), but nevertheless the code provided some sort of the moral backbone that post soviet "each man for himself" global world lack (big time).

You don't ask any questions nor do you get anyone involved in a discussion...

Do you just like to post Wikisource links?

Ot is there another C-D contest coming up?
Since, I don't expect even people like plwhit to have many objections to the highlighted sentences, what can I say, except that a bird of the private self-interest is worth ten birds in the bush of the "public good", it doesn't matter that resulting dog-eat-dog environment drives us crazy (literally). It's just informational post. Have you read Moral Code before (assuming you've read it now, not a fact )?

So every time someone posts a highlighted sentence that means it denotes a subject or topic of discussion?

You do realize the topics of this forum?

Politics and Other Controversies

*NOT* the FYI forum..... (the bold text does not denote a discussion topic or FYI)....

Could you be civil and acknowledge what I posted in #2, those leaders had the same "moral codes" as ????? in 1961?

I've read many single sentence posts on CD offering no subject (or an opinion) for discussion or author' participation for that matter, but nevertherless those posts triggered 50+ pages of discussion unrelated to the original sentence.

It's extremely unlikely in this case, but common, I cited 12 commandments, I highlighted the ones that even heritage foundation members cannot object much, I stated that despite the fact that 12 Soviet Commandments were not revered (at all) by the Soviet citizenry they provided some sort of positive direction for the social mores, that positive direction is lost and trampled down in the post soviet "each man for himself" countries.

As the very least you could write that Moral Code is a reason communism can never work, and that's why free market rooted in self-interest is the king I would have written that you are wrong, because what makes Russia and USA different today is the fact that ruggedly individualistic American elites promotes social cohesion (no matter how fake that looks) and totalitarian Putin embraced more social Darwinian Approach, the very same Putin who memorized Moral Code because it was expected of the Law students back then.

Russians, like members of all organic societies, had a moral code. Communism replaced it. Then when Communism went away there was nothing left strong enough to stop the descent into criminality.

I find that posters who use at the end of their posts somehow shouldn't be taken seriously that's my gut feeling
