I read media from left, right, and center. I wasn't surprised by the outcome of the 2012 election. Conservatives were trapped in their own media bubble and got smacked with reality the day of the election.

Not even close. The 2004 race was closer and going into the final stretch the polling was close, but Bush had the upper edge and was favored to win. The only shot democrats had was an electoral college win without the popular vote.
