"As of 10:16 p.m. EDT (Monday 6/10/13), sales of Orwell's "1984" are up 126 percent on the Amazon list. The sales rank is now at 71 - up from 161."

The original report was that sales were up 69 percent but it kept increasing as the day went on amid all of the real-world news stories.

And if that isn't enough, the IRS is buying surveillance equipment:

"The IRS wants to secure the surveillance equipment quickly – it posted a solicitation on June 6 and is looking to close the deal by Monday, June 10. The agency already has a company lined up for the order but is not commenting on the details."

So what do you think it's for - To spy on people who come in for office audits, to spy on people who may be stealing things when they come in to IRS buildings for whatever reasons or is it to spy on their employees?

Personally, I think we're becoming a lot more like "Brave New World", in the way we seem to shirk any genuine attempts at social betterment in our quest hoard consumer electronics, which has apparently become the basis of our economy.

Imo, we need it rewritten with a more modern take on it.

The first step is 1984 so BNW can be easier to enact.

I think "The Matrix" and "Brave New World" are the more relevant dystopias for our time (and, maybe, "The Rise of the Meritocracy", if you consider that book sci-fi dystopian).

It's definitely happening....

It's really hard for Liberals on CD as of late LOL....they are pretty much nailed to the cross and the barrage of fascism that they are witnessing leaves them with absolutely nothing to bite on.

You are seeing pretty much nothing but ad-hoc from them now.

A bunch of cowards and spineless toads that deserve everything that is coming down the pipe to them.
