Now, yes....PEG is relatively harmless, however, is IS used in explosives. Secondly, ethylene glycol could possibly be supplied as coolant. And the big one is chlorine....
Regardless of the speculation regarding usage...WHY has it been supplied in such MASSIVE amounts?? It's already common knowledge that we are arming the rebels. Sooo....?
We've already gone to the UN with "proof" that it is Assad using the chemical weapons.
But the UN says they must validate who is using them. And so far they can't.

It does add a new twist to this war, and it once again calls into question, why should the US government choose sides in this, both of them are bad actors.

We're not "choosing" sides, we created the rebel side..that's us.
The question is why does the US think they need to decide the fate of Syria and bankroll rebels to fight Assad ?
Look the countries we've already invaded. Are we really all about democracy and human rights and freeing oppressed people ?
And if the Syrian Gov is using said chemicals to make weapons or even using them, how is this our problem? I can understand their neighbors being concerned, but not our problem. Let those who are impacted locally deal with it.
We are not the United World Police Force.
Is your question why less than 300 barrels of chlorine have been found, along with a few other chemicals?
Because 300 barrels of chlorine isn't a lot for a distributor and with the war, having something that can cleanse bacteria from drinking water would be very useful for the rebels.
300 barrels of various chemicals isn't much at all. I'm not even sure why this would be on the news, since you could probably go to any grocery chain stores warehouse and find the exact same thing.

This is just one of several other findings of chemical weapons found in rebel storage.
While the US is saying Assad has chemical weapons, Russia is saying the rebels have chemical weapons.
I guess two can play that game.

So, it's just a Sam's or Costco in the desert?
Maybe you can research what other compounds chlorine can be combined with to facilitate lethality.
