Organizers of the United Students Against Sweatshops in DC had wondered about "Missy," an activist who always seemed to be on the scene, though no one seemed to know anything more about her. One thing they did know, however, was that Missy's appearances were correlated with DC cops showing up at the stores where they were planning (lawful, peaceful) protest actions, preventing them from taking place.

This is why groups like OWS don't stand a chance. Taking this and many other similar stories in to account it's clear that the United States is no longer a first-world nation.

Why are you so complacent about this ?
People have the right to protest peacefully.

We have LE "activists" infiltrating and encouraging violence.

Austin police did it with the OWS protest at the Houston port.
The APD infiltrator brought the materials and showed them how to chain themselves up.
They all got arrested and charged with felonies.
Thank goodness some journalist and lawyer cared enough to take action and write stories and went to the APD.
Caught with no way out the APD confirmed it and the judge threw out the felony charges against the OWS protesters.

Given some of Missy's (DC police officer Nicole Rizzi) tweets it appears she wasn't just an infiltrator but actually an agent provocateur.

Quote:
Agent provocateur: Traditionally, an agent provocateur (plural: agents provocateurs, French for "inciting agent(s)") is an agent employed by the police or other entity to act undercover to entice or provoke another person to commit an illegal act or falsely implicate them in partaking in the illegal act. More generally, the term may refer to an undercover person or group of persons that seek to discredit or harm another group (often, peaceful protest or demonstration) by provoking them to commit a wrong or rash action (thus, undermining the protest or demonstration as whole).

Where exactly did you get the idea that I'm "complacent" about this?

I'm just pointing out that it's been going on for years. And when Michael Moore reported on this fact in Fahrenheit 911, he was roundly jeered by many of the same people who are decrying the practice now.

We'll lets hope we all continuing the jeering of this and all of the abominiations that are happening under Bush and Now Obama. Not that they are directly responsible for each and every abomination. Just because it is not "your regime" does not make the action any more right or wrong than when it did happen under "your regime".

I'm not aware of what (if any) control the Obama administration has over what the DC police department does, but your point is well-taken. In fact, I seem to recall many accusations among the cons that Obama was somehow "pro-Occupy" because he might have said something about income inequality once or twice.

Obama, FBI, CIA and Homeland Security were all involved with shutting down the Occupy Movement.
