Kind of like our local fire department. They spent a million dollars( maybe it was two) on a big ladder truck when most buildings in the area only have two floors. They trot it out every chance they get even for false alarms so it can be seen. I think it does get loaned to neighboring townships and the city, though. Should last a long time seeing very little actual use like it does.
They "need" a new fire house now, too. As for the police, I don't mind so much. But seeing three or four police cars pull somebody over gets you excited and then its only a DUI or a speeding ticket.
A retired USMC colonel says what I have been saying since 2002; that the Department of Homeland Security is more akin to the Soviet Union's internal troops than it is a legitimate counter-terrorism or civil defense organization.
That'd be hilarious, DHS an internal Army with Sheila Jackson-Lee at the helm. I'll be painting my windows black and bolt myself inside.
I wonder if all this braying would be taking place if George W. Bush were President? The irony is his administration created the security state, one which our current Pres. did not did mantle.
If he did try and dismantle it, the outcry would be deafening from conservatives.
The reality is your continual shrieking does little to advance anything as most thinking people have tuned out the constant din of doomsday from the right. After all, Obamacare will lead to the end of the U.S..
What's Your position? Got one or are you just a partisan hack off blowharding a drive by?
Advocating for smaller, constitutionally limited government, that would require lower taxes and stimulate the economy by allowing people to keep more of the hard earned dollars, and desiring government accountability and transparency is reason for the president to raise a Gestapo and turn them loose on people who have such reasonable aims?
Obama has spoke of a Civilian National Security Force numerous times in 2008 here are some dates ...July 15,17,20 ...November 11 Armistice Day or Veterans Day .
We don't need that because we have the Second Amendment and militias to do that very thing Mr. Obama ...their oath is to uphold the Constitution not allegiance to you...one of his speeches is on youtube on this matter sounds like Adolf to me.
I was working for DoD when that "national security force" stuff went out. The Silly Service personell were classified by GS ratings and titles as to what their jobs would be should the plan be implemented. They had a bunch of unclassified ramblings from DC about it. Like...prospectus things, that were written up by whoever and sent out distribution all.
Lol, picturing a lot of these clowns as "security force operatives" was amusing. It was basically a plan to create a "militia" within federal employee ranks. It didn't get far, but it smacked of an end run around the second amendment to create a "wellregulated militia" out of federal employees.

During the rise of the security state during the Bush era, someone smartly stated that once the tools are in the Executive Office toolbox, no one wants to take them out of the toolbox and put them back. I never once thought for a second that Obama would do anything to roll back the security state, because if he had, conservatives would have gone apoplectic. Could you imagine Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, FOX News, etc. and the theories on why he is doing such a thing? Secret plot to destroy USA from within.
The truth is, we have the neoconservatives to thank for the "new normal", and we have conservatives to thank that things remain this way.
