The total collapse of the Chinese economy, with resulting civil disorder.

The continued digitization of our lives.

The continued drop in poverty.

The slowing of world population growth, followed by an actual decline by 2050.

Great question!

The most important thing I foresee is advances in medical treatments/cures: cancer being the top of the list.

Default 2045: The Year Man Becomes Immortal

We will be approaching technological singularity.

Simply put, it is really the idea that computers will become smarter than we are. Once you have a super-intelligent computer, it can do things that human minds cannot even dream of: will lead to tremendous and rapid advances is all fields include technology and medicine.

Most all of the people between 80 and 100 years old will be dead.

The gap between the rich and poor will widen.
Our Gov. will still "Not get it" and there will be a further decline to our once great status and world respect.
Obama care will bankrupt the USA.
There will be another call to give amnesty to illegal immigrants.
There will be a rise in crime and senseless acts such as the 3 black kids shooting the Australian visitor "because we were bored".
The next 20 years is going to get rough.

People in government know all about it they just don't care
while they are reaping fortunes from payoffs.

That's for sure, and interestingly, I don't think the masses will rise up and drag one of these bastards to the curb in the next 20 years. To me, it is one of those great social mysteries--almost like people enjoy being the downtrodden while the politically rich sneak off with their money, and there's not much sneaking about. The thievery is done in broad daylight.

But my biggie for the next 20 years will be the accelerated pace of climate change. I think we think we will wake up one morning and there will be ten feet of water in Manhattan and we will know the climate has changed. Instead, it is happening slowly, but at a more rapid pace, which I think will accelerate during the next 20 years. Wild fires, drought, over the top rainfall, record heat, and cold, as the earth is more rapidly and more violently reacting to the pressures upon it. Maybe in 20 years people will no longer be able to live in large areas (like Phoenix at 125 degrees) and mass migration will begin as we mobilize to find the habitable locations.

Just seems to me the pace of climate change is accelerating, and probably past the point where we can do much ab9outit, even if we started today (which certainly isn't happening).
