Are you aware that one-third of fast food and minimum wage workers are over 40?
What kept them from increasing their skill sets so they could command a higher wage?

Since when does a fake "social movement" by people with laughable views and sillier demands get achieved EVER?

I wished the journalists asked those questions to the people they interviewed.
One girl has been at McDonalds 10 years..started at 16 and had one kid along the way..still at min wage.
Another guy working there 16 years and still at min wage saying it was deplorable that he wasn't making more.

I'd love to read the backgrounds of these people. Are they literate ? Did they graduate HS ? Are they disabled ?

It would be too non pc to do so of course. If someone chooses a minimum wage lifestyle then they should not complain about the outcome.

You tell me. Who keeps numbers on that type of thing? Seems to me that thought may just be your very negatively biased opinion. Do YOU have any statistics to support your belief? You do realize that job applications can and do ask applicants if they have ever been convicted of any crimes, etc., don't you?

Exactly what is "fake" about this social movement? Obviously you are not knowledgeable or informed regarding history nor what is going on in your country at this point. Comments such as "people with laughable views and sillier demands" is absolutely the height of arrogance by those who appear to be very selfish and only self-concerned, also those with no imagination or vision regarding the future.

Btw, is your post what is considered flamming?

Did the person claiming McD's only pays 3% of food costs in wages ever come back or did they just run away after we pointed out that each cashier would have to serve a person every 20 seconds the store was in operation for that to hold true?

To be fair the transition to a service based economy has caused this mess. Alot of these minimum wagers would have been working unionized manufacturing jobs some time ago.

Amen!

Who in their right mind thinks that someone who flips burgers deserves more than some in the healthcare field, or some educators?!

Fire each and every one that went on strike and hire people that WANT jobs, no matter how bad they are.

WHERE are the "higher wage" jobs for all those who do have the education (or skill set) to do them? Guess you must be lacking of knowledge of the transition in our economy producting things to a service industry, and so therefore would be ignorant of the reality that people who had "good" jobs, higher wages, lost those jobs because those jobs left the country.
