Try asking a Department of Defense civilian employee that just finished getting hit for six non-paid days over the last six weeks if it was painful. Yes, it was. Right in time for back to school shopping, etc. It sucked.

The DoD civilians in my husband's office would beg to differ with you. Most of them lost over $1,000 - that hurt.

"Empathy" is not a word that Republicans are familiar with.

Of course, the people who wanted the cuts made were carefully choosing those that would hurt people, not stuff that should have been tossed. It is deliberate faithlessness. Each one should be arrested and charged with criminal fiduciary negligence.

It has nothing to do with Republicans. The super committee was bipartisan and the President signed the law. It has to do with two political parties in Washington acting like children throwing temper tantrums. I hold both parties accountable for their utter lack of ability or willingness to do what they were elected to do, and run the nation. We would not be in the mess had the Senate Democrats actually passed a budget at any time in the last four years. We would not be in this mess if the House Republicans didn't see every funding debate as a ticket to get the sharp knives out for Obamacare againg.
