The people of Egypt, Syria, Libya among other nations have risen up in arms against their tyrannical governments.

We have supplied the "rebels" with weapons that help them fight their government forces.

Gun grabbers have no concept of this.

"It can't happen here", right?

It can't happen here. If the people of the United States decided to violently overthrow the government, it wouldn't last long. The military has jets, drones, tanks, anti-material rifles, claymores, etc. What would do the U.S. people have? A lot of guns. Guns don't do much against unmanned planes.

With those guns they can capture equipment. Without guns you are at the will of the tyrant. It's kind of strange how blacks have issue with slavery but are so willing to give in to the same idea.

If they aren't all blown to Hell by coordinated air strikes first.

I think you forget that many people in the military would actually side with the citizens of this nation, not a tyrannical government.

This is a case where principle outweighs practice in importance. Of course the government has an overwhelming advantage militarily, and your typical shotgun-wielding citizen would have no chance against the military. The "take home" point for we latter day Americans is this: The Second Amendment was not written in to our Constitution so we could shoot our supper.

The Founders were not only comfortable with an armed citizenry, they were comforted by it.

We're the only nation on Earth that guarantees its citizens the Right to be armed. It's a sign of a government that is confident in its own goodness that it is not threatened by an armed citizenry. Only a government bent on tyranny is threatened by that.

And every single one of those things is driven, flown or fired by an American who swore to defend the COTUS.

And sometimes those rebels are substantially worse than the folk who preceded them. For all we know, governments and other Big $ sources created the instability that resulted in a rebellion.

Media has been reporting there are at least 30 factions within the Syrian rebellion, including 2-3 different Al Qaeda groups. How does one tell the good guys from the bad?
