She might wana go on Maury because its one thing to be biracial and look white with maybe an exotic/dark Italian look , it's another to look like you stepped out of Europe 1800s
Children can be very cruel, say and do some very hurtful things. There is no excuse for adults who should know better to be just as cruel out of sheer ignorance and/or their racist mentality.
Listen to these children and understand what they are going through. Childhood and teen years should be happy times, not going through life with a heavy heart, and parents living with a heavy heart feeling helpless in protecting their child from the hurt they are going through. Obviously that message was lost on the OP and a few others.
I did not realize this was such a sensitive subject. Not until this white looking girl was made aware of her other half, the problems started. Why?
My seven year old son was never introduced to race. He doesn't know labels such as white or black. Not because I don't use them, I do, but I never thought it was important to tell him. He will figure it out on his own.
If I told my son ".you are white",he would look at me like I was joking. Because according to him, people can't be white, all people have to have a little color. They can't be white as a paper !
If I pointed at a black person and said to my son, that person is black, he would react the same way. When he describe how people look he describe them without labels. "I met a new friend today. He had short brown hair, a little browner skin and his name is Michael". Not until I actually get to see this boy I would know his race. And the way he describe people they could be pretty much any race.
I'm wondering why little kids are so invested in all this. It must be the parents. But still, my husband and I are no angels. We talk a bunch a crap and are certainty no role models when it comes to labels.
But our son on the other hand has no idea. Is he just completely naive compared to other kids his age?
The video posted by op just floored me. How can little kid be so aware....In lack for better words
Let me finally say that I am grateful my son is "colorblind". He is too young to be concerned with it.
