You really know nothing about the history surrounding this do you? Ronnie Earle went grand jury shopping, blowing thru six grand juries until he found one corrupt enough, partisan enough, and/or ignorant enough to indict him on this bogus charge.
Remember Billy Dale, the poor guy the Clintons tried to destroy, shortly after taking office. They fired the entire White House Travel Office by accusing them of fraud and corruption, just so the Clintons could appoint their own people?
Of course not. You don't care about justice, not when you can destroy your political enemies with lies and trumped up charges. This is why you people are so despised.
This is just the way our system works now. It costs $10 million to win a US Senate seat on average, and $1.7 million to win a house seat. You'd have to be an imbecile to think that all that money is being donated out of civic mindedness. It's all pay to play. If we put DeLay in jail, and I was not a fan of his, we would have to put all 535 congress critters plus Obama and Biden in jail.
He wasn't found innocent.
In other words, he got off on a technicality. [MOD CUT]
It is a giant technicality when the evidence doesn't support the verdict. Add the poor handling of the original case by the trial judge and the entire case stinks.
I don't like Delay much, but I like bad justice even less. The acquittal was justified.
to my knowledge no one was charged in the whitewater case, and no one went grand jury shopping to get charges filed. so that would be a fail on your part.
You need to tale step back, he is innocent in a court of law but not so much in the court of public opinion. This is the same legal system that exonerated OJ but to hold up either Tom Delay or OJ as victims is absurd. Legally it doesn't matter he is free so go celebrate and be glad that a man of his character is out on the streets, who knows maybe they will him to congress.
No, it's you who needs to take a step back.
He was not found innocent.
Period.
Please provide us with proof that they found him "innocent" - you're the one making that positive assertion.
Man of character?
Well, I guess for the GOP, he might be.

I was referring to the 'trumped up charges' Ed mentioned.
Starr spent 3 years and $7 million dollars to find something that would stick, but never did. Same goes for DeLay. Sauce for the goose, sauce for the gander and all that.
