I don't think Russians care much whether McCain is a Republican or a Democrat; in fact many of them don't even understand the difference.
However judging by their responses to the article, the most recurrent theme was "Americans can't be trusted period, no matter Democrats or Republicans. Particularly after the nineties, when we believed them and what they did in return was making an attempt to destroy Russia, turning it yet into another third world country subservient to their interests."
So even if some of them recognize that what McCain is saying is basically true, they are suspicious of his motives, remembering that the Russian leader Americans were greatly approving of, was Yeltsin, who brought an immense suffering and hardship for the population.
Hence Putin's op-ed ( judging by the comments) was much better received by Americans than McCain's article by Russians.
What can you say about it, but "sign of times," apparently.
And Republicans continue to eat their own. How satisfying it is.
Meanwhile democrats keep supporting folks who lie right to their face every day of the week. I guess to you that is satisfying. Not me I don't like lliars. Your hero Obama is the king of em all and you swooners lap up his speak like turkey gravy.
What's with the Conservative penchant for taking up for the Russians these days?
Look, i'm no fan of McCain or Lindsay Graham, but you'd have to be pretty low on the human evolution scale to lack the moral authority to lecture Russia. And let's just say that there are few humans on Earth that fall into that category....
A Russian propaganda newspaper write this and you put stock in it?
Like there are any Western media outlets that are not propaganda machines.
I remember that Westerners used to criticize the people living under the Soviet regime for their belief in the Tass news agency. That was fair criticism. The problem is that we have Westerners doing the exact same thing when it comes to our corporate-controlled media. There is little criticism of the message we receive and a blind willingness to swallow whatever appears in newsprint or on TV.
I always get a kick out of lefties thinking the R means anything to us. McStain is just another gun grabbers to us. The left can have him for all we care.
Putin had a well written piece in the New York Times that talked about American attitudes and foreign policy. You may not agree with it but it shows a common foreigner's view of the US.
McCain wrote a shallow "Putin sucks" piece in pravda.ru - not realizing that pravda.ru is no longer the government's mouthpiece but is privately owned and is the Russian equivalent of the New York Post tabloid and TMZ.com.

Not a Russian propaganda newspaper any more. McCain made that mistake also.

That's not the tune you were singing in '08.
