George W. Bush: He Gave Rise to the Tea Party - Democratic Underground

Democratic Underground - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Democratic Underground, also known as DU, is an online community for U.S. Democrats. Its membership is restricted by policy to those who are supportive of the Democratic Party and Democratic candidates for political office.[2] DU was established on January 20, 2001, the day Republican George W. Bush was inaugurated president.

DU is nothing but a closed minded, hate filled cesspool or idiots who come together daily to remind themselves how much they hate George W. Bush.

It was not. Not by a long shot.
Yes it was, some people just have a very selective memory.

OMG, really? A Nazi and a Communist? Well clearly Obama is being grossly mistreated compared to Bush.

A Nazi is hardly the only thing Bush was called in the last 13 years because as anyone who is honest knows the left hasn't let up on bashing him.

the difference here is that the while the right is going after obama, the left is fighting back with the same vitriol that they used against bush, only now every disagreement with obama is racist. it really is getting worse on both sides.

Bush deserved it. All of it and more. I don't recall a whole lot of attacks on Mrs. Bush or their daughters, certainly not broadcast over the radio like Rush Limbaugh's insults toward Chelsea Clinton or anything, and certainly not a lot of people on message boards. And those who did engage in such attacks were being crass. What did the Bush girls ever do to deserve the public's ire?

The attacks on Obama, on the other hand, are solely rooted in his not being a Republican. The GOP behaved the same way during the Clinton Administration and if you dug into some usenet archive somewhere you could probably see for yourself. Ask yourself why Sean Hannity and his bratchny droogs are brushing off the Republican-supported shutdown but acted as if cancelling White House tours was the beginning of the end for western civilization for just one small example.

Well, two things have changed in American society, but globally, in developed places, psychology and all the true truths it has exposed about the easily-led human mind has made for interesting fractures amongst the population by those out for control and profit and well-educated cultural soldiers. Psychology was the weapon that killed god and church if only to replace it with science and state, a situation that will be just as nasty as the old one but you cannot explain this to the hopeful and the young-at-heart. But back to observations on America.

One is the medium and how much more it has become common and popular. The internet is a faceless, boiling pot of opinion and advertising that now is great enough to have many a paid shill operating under the pretense of being an ordinary James/Jane prattling on about unimportant stuff made to look direly important. From politics to goods vendors to those who create and direct an effect- they are everywhere on the web and due to FB and the like, everyone can now be a smug celebrity in their own domain. If everyone is a genius no one is wrong, except those who disagree.

The other is a huge undertaking, partly planned and partly ad hoc given the organic development of society that has been... optimized might be the right word? In terms of America, well people began buying into the smugness of being properly correct from the '90's with laissez-faire social policies. There was Oprah and Springer and the like, who pushed folks into being shamed for antics so much like their own or of those they knew. And MTV, informing kids they were special, oh-so-special. People rallied around the Clintons because they seemed like outsiders to D.C. (HA!), all humble but driven about changing society for the benefit of the young in hip Boomer fashion and kids liked that old folks could care and the adults saw a homespun couple with a cheating husband and a determined well-meaning wife kinda like them. People began hating the GOP (partly because their attitudes were obviously outdated, mostly by planned intention) because those who were in the media had decided that future cash (markets) will come from young people or young-minded people and they had to start catering to those who were not retiring/dying as the Boomer Generation started to do then (both also gave us our beloved influx of cheap immigrant labor). The excited promise that the web would make everyone rich if they played it right (and how true!) certainly had it's effect on the young and the medium is the message, as instant as an e-mail or a post on a forum or webpage and about as thoughtless and simple to dispense but how sensational! Never forget how much Americans have become reliant upon convenience and drama. You cannot succinctly understand America if you do not understand its dependence on immediate gratification with a lot of hoopla centered around it.

Finally, the '90's was the point when all the children who had grown up hearing tales of valiant hippie-dom railing against tyrannical old money, all that cloaked quasi-Socialist BS from tenured hack professors out for adherents and such came of age then. They were informed to hate on old money but weren't informed that new money won't be young for long and will end up just as tired as the rebelled against previous old money, money that by economic necessity allowed them to be schooled via grants and loans. America now thinks it will be better off if it ends up like a sort of European twin, a strong state authoritarianism dictating proper behavior, giving specialized liberties to prove social progress, eschewing independence while creating yet another burdensome paradigm that will be bucked for all its fake all-inclusive pretenses, its denial that money is evil greed if held in their individual accounts and not regulated (or remitted or invested) to be shared to care for the lackluster and the happily self-dilapidated lamesters amongst us. A mindset that seems to tell everyone they are special if they do as they are supposed to do, which is another scheme to make certain people rich while the 'little folks' are being led into a deeper thrall of a government that must by necessity keep all these loose ends together to keep the country cohesive... and profitably overseen by those who command the 'elected' runners of government, those very same rich who had the precognitive sense to get the educated folk who actually run the day-to-day menial business of government and society correctly indoctrinated by using the natural order of their college influences and sympathies fashioned into something they can believe and extoll, virtues that keeps the puppet masters in power and a byzantine number of burgeoning micro-industries popping up which necessarily must be provided by a bloated state, which covers and exults any old 'need' of the citizenry or resident suffering an issue (or lucrative for those imagining a profitable 'issue') can behold.

And the whole thing is garbed in liberty's loose-fitting toga! How that old French statue would weep if it could...

My apologies to those who think Carson Daly and short infomercialist snippets is da bomb, but who the hell is he?

LOL. No attacks on Bush? Are you insane? Apparently so. Lunatic lefties made a gdam movie assassinating him for Christ's sake. Gimme a break.

And there we have it folks. Anyone who claims that Bush didn't get the kind of abuse that Obama gets is blind and it's usually on purpose.

But I thought things were going to be utopia now. Didn't Obama say the seas were going to stop rising and everything would be set right when he got into office? His was going to be the most transparent ever and all the people would be happy ever after?

I have only been here 3 years but what I noticed that is some of the more educated level headed posters have stopped visiting CD. I can name a slew of them from both sides of the aisle but I don't think that is a good idea. I am not learning as much as before but still learning and that makes CD worth my time. Plus it is fun to talk politics with others in the know.

Since I generally do not discuss politics, or religion and such publically or even with friends, this board is an outlet for me. The other subjects available are a fun diversion as well, like the hobby and pets forums. P&OC can get frustrating sometimes. Lol, but, some of the stuff you see can be wildly entertaining.

When I first joined, back in 07, my purpose was mainly moving information. After discovering the full forum, well, I just got hooked. As I said, an outlet for pent up opinions. I have had some ...lively...discussions here, and even made friends with a few liberal types. I have become less intractable and can understand other opinions better, even if I don't agree with them.

I have come to know a lot of posters, of all stripes, and now see just how much of a mess is out there in the rantings of certain individuals. Lol, names spring to mind, but I won't go there. The boards have changed some, but not astronomically, however, I have changed, considerably, from my early days here. In a positive way, I'd like to think.
