Sequester cut half a trillion dollars from military . How much more do we cut before we hurt national security?
Huh? When did we end the military in this country? You know the defense budget is about $683 billion dollars. Did you honestly suggest that we have only $83 billion in defense now?
It's been discussed over and over again on cd. Hey I don't care. Businesses just cut employees and hiring. As long as you want to believe and defend Obama you will suffer the consequences.
I was curious what the left's plan is to pay down our debt and get the fiscal house in order. Oh, sure you can cut defense spending, but a few hundred billion will have to come from somewhere else, notably entitlements, social security payments and welfare.
While Democrats have a point that the GOP doesn't have a plan, I have yet to hear a viable plan from the left. You can't raise taxes but so much, and, sure, there's about $400 billion to cut in the DoD, in my opinion. But you'll still have a few hundred billion left and the only place to cut is that elephant in the room: welfare, social security and entitlements. They have to be placed on the table eventually, but I'm not sure Democrats are prepared to anger their base.
What’s really remarkable at this point, however, is the persistence of the deficit fixation in the face of rapidly changing facts. People still talk as if the deficit were exploding, as if the United States budget were on an unsustainable path; in fact, the deficit is falling more rapidly than it has for generations, it is already down to sustainable levels, and it is too small given the state of the economy.
