And again, the assumption is that they are not conservative enough. This, of course, is followed by taking another step to the right, particularly if doing so appeases the very vocal right-wing fringe that has somehow managed to give the GOP the idea that they are representative of the average American.

Wash, rinse, repeat - March Onward Christian Soldier.

If I didn't know better, I would think that this whole nonsense was somehow created by some evil liberal thinktank aimed at letting the GOP implode through its own volition.

As it is, liberals don't need any help. The GOP keeps deconstructing itself, all the while not seeing the forest for the trees.

It's amazing to witness - and very sad. I actually like to have a choice politically, even if that choice is more of a facade than substance - but the GOP has managed to take itself completely out of the equation.

After GW. Bush getting set up by Pelosi, they try another Progressive Republican, in McCain who was once a Democrat. They surely didn't step any farther right then.
Then again, they try another Progressive that has verbally admitted and documented he is a Progressive Republican. Romney was actually a step farther to the left, than McCain and Bush.

You see a guy, elected by all odds with buckets of money used to defeat him. Rise to the top of the party and fundamentally challenge the Good `ol Boys , at their own game. Now there is your step to the right... Maybe a few steps, to make up for years of lost steps.

John Boehner: 18%
Ted Cruz: 16%
... and at the bottom of the barrel is Mich McConnell at a pathetic 10%

In comparison, Obama's number (37%) is looking pretty darned good.

So, even in this awful poll, the GOP comes off far worse than Obama - which we've seen over and over again since the crisis started.

37% are the freebie receivers who support Obama.

Makes that 37% kinda weak.

The honest answer is that both parties are partly at fault for this mess, and neither side seems to have a solution. After all, when was the last time we actually had a budget passed anyway?
So both have equal PR machines. so it's not the messanger...could it just be the message?

Let the "Tea Party" Pukes sink the GOP! If I were Boehner I would get Ted Cruz drunk and his "Tea Party" co-horts and tar and feather them with Lipton Ice Tea bags and them dump their stupid moronic asses into the Boston harbor! That would be a real "Tea Party" for America!

Only republicans care about the GOP popularity, and with idiot, weak-kneed, Democratic Party-lite republicans like Peter King and John McCain in that party, their numbers will continue to fall. BTW, 0bama's popularity is t 37% and crashing, and he is only in his first year of his second term.

Does it really matter what Obama's approval ratings are anyways? He is our President for the next 3 years whereas the "Pukes" have to face elections next year.

You mean the same poll that showed Congress at a pathetic 5% and Mitch McConnell at 10%?
It was a harsh poll to be sure - but even in THAT poll, Obama did FAR better than members of the GOP (or Congress in general).

And BTW, polls since that one show Obama's popularity rebounding - with an average approval rating of 44% - not that it really matters, Obama doesn't have to run for re-election, unlike members of Congress.

RealClearPolitics - Election Other - President Obama Job Approval
