Yup, that's why I personally didn't mind at all that the GOP shut down the government - nor that they have been so stubborn about passing a clean CR: the longer it goes on the worse it is for the GOP and (in particular) the Tea Party. They are committing political suicide.
As McCain put it: "The Obamacare fight was a fool's errand"

Ken
If I read correctly, Repub voters are for Dem Congress 47% to 39%.... errr, I don't know what to say about that. Are we witnessing the total demise of the GOP?

ah...makes conservatives wish for the simpler days of F&F and Benghazi. No real action needed to be "right". When a simple accusation could keep you in glory for days.

Well, he hasn't caved yet. I gotta say that I'm impressed with this new hold-your-ground Obama.

Well, the left does have a very effective smear machine--give the devil his due. When W Bush was in office libs relentlessly attacked and his approval rating tanked. After 2008, libs didn't care any more, and his approval ratings rebounded remarkably:
Look who

Same thing with Reagan. Reagan had his problems with approval ratings while in office, finishing with an average of 52, well behind Clinton, HW Bush, Johnson, and Kennedy. But now that he is gone he tends to be fondly remembered even by many liberals. All but the recalcitrant give him credit for his role in freeing millions of people from the bondage of Soviet totalitarianism.

Why is this thread still open when the thread about King Obama's approval rating has been locked?

Yes it matters, because 0bama is the face of the Democratic Party.

Nobody likes the US Congress or US Senate, they never have.

The poll of congressional approval is not exactly a direct reflection on the two political parties. Some people poll unfavorably because they think the republican congress is not conservative enough, or the democrat congress is not liberal enough. The only people who like the congress are the partisan party hacks who always approve of whatever their party is doing, no matter how poorly they are failing at their jobs.

Well, in that case I guess the Democratic party is doing relatively well (at least compared to everyone else):

Latest Obama approval/disapproval: 47%/48%

It wont last long. The President is a pramatist. He knows the Republicans will negotiate on DC, and this is a perfect opportunity to offer the House what Reid accepted in principle in spending cuts when the deal was offered by the House prior to Ted Cruz' excellent adventure in defunding ACA.
