Palin saved McCain from a landslide loss. He is an idiot and never should have ran for President.

Default If McCain was more aware of the Economy and didn't pick Palin...

...he might have lost by only 8 million votes instead of 10 million.

Had he not tried to "out populist" osama and had he allowed Sarah to vehemently, truthfully attack osama, they would have had a chance.

McCain is nothing but a progressive light.

Truth: After McCain picked Palin, and she went on the campaign trail speaking, McCain's campaign began to gain ground.

Sarah Palin drew enormous crowds every place she went. She was very popular with the Republican base, and still is today.

Very true. McCain's campaign actually picked up steam after Palin was announced and began hitting the campaign trail.

After eight years of Bush there was no Republican on earth who could have won the elections. A Dem was going win no matter which Dem was nominated.

Very true.

A better candidate than McCain might have made it a more interesting election, but after 8 years of Republicans in the WH, there was no way McCain was going to win.

Think about it this way: the country elected an absentee junior senator -- from the most corrupt state in the country -- who had never held a meaningful job in his life, and had never really accomplished anything in his life. To the highest office in the land.

We elected an empty resume who years later would reveal himself as someone afflicted with narcissistic personality disorder as president.

Now THAT is Republican backlash.

If wishes were fishes, we would be up to our butts in carp.
I think the McCain/Palin ticket was simply a poor choice.

No matter who he had picked, it would still have been challenge for him to win. GWB was largely considered an unpopular president, and therefore it was a given that Obama would win the general election of 2008. Even if the Democrat candidate had been Hillary or even John Edwards, that person would still have won the general election.
