Of course not. There are actually two questions, the cost of the premium and your out of pocket cost. Your premium is expected to double or more for younger, healthy males, in order to subsidize insurance for women and those with pre existing conditions.

As to your out of pocket? Depends on if you qualify for welfare to subsidize your premiums.

The actual cost to insure you may go down a bit but the cost you'll pay will go up because you're now paying to insure a whole bunch of other people too.

Default OK, can someone HELPFUL explain how this insurance thing is affecting me?

I'm 26. I don't make much. I'm super healthy, and a non-tobacco user.

I was paying $150 per month for individual insurance. Affordable plan without much coverage because I never go to the doc or hospital. $10k deductible, $35 co-pays.

Now all of a sudden, I go online and this website is telling me that I will only have to pay $80/month out of pocket now, with a $6500 deductible and $0 co-pays? What the hell?

It says I would receive about $80/month in government subsidies. The plan is called Anthem Catastrophic DirectAccess.

What the f--- is the word catastrophic in there for? Why would my new healthcare be so much cheaper? Am I really just the exact perfect demographic to reap the benefits of this new Obamacare stuff? I don't understand...

What sort of answer are you looking for here? Do you even want help or are you just looking to b**ch? Since you seem incapable of finding it, I will provide the ACA help desk phone number for you:

1-800-318-2596

Call them. They will help you.

you went from paying $150 / mo

to paying $160 / mo , minus $80/mo in subsidies from the government.

"Catastrophic" is just a way of saying that the coverage is designed to insure you in the event of a medical catastrophe. This is what most young people buy anyway, when they choose their own insurance plan.

You will also find that the new plan covers preventive care (annual checkup, Pap test, etc.) with no copay or deductible.

So the reason I would be paying a lot less now is because all of a sudden I am receiving government subsidies for it, whereas in the past before Obamacare I haven't been?

If this is true, then why does everyone keep saying this Obamacare is going to raise prices for young healthy people like me? Even my boss is saying it.
