There has never been a time when the public supported Obamacare.

Never.

Well, maybe in November 2012.

I have no doubt that public opinion is currently sour on Obamacare, given all the negative news about the roll-out, as well as the millions of dollars spent by interest groups to portray it in a negative light, even before full implementation.

Anyway, in 2016 there will be another Presidential election. The people will again speak. No doubt the losing side will call the other side 'sheeple', ignorant, etc.

Take away the term Obamacare and the response is different. We've done a very good job of demonizing the term. There are parts of the legislation that are overwhelmingly popular.

I'd also not be so high and might about public approvals given the impact that the tea bagging nutjobs have had on our party.

Incidentally swagger, care to recall what our counter-proposal was to the ACA? I'll give you a hint. It rhymes with othing. Also, where does this hive mind of the left scream for a pure democracy?

None was needed.

There was no large action by government needed.

a pure democracy is the anthesis of progressivism. Majority rule without the concerns of the rights of the minority is not representitive democracy.

I'd ask you if you even know what that term means, but I'm guessing you've been on the receiving end of it.

I wondered this myself when I read the claim. That's news to me.

I thought we were all supposedly gunning for a pure Socialist regime. Make up your mind, OP.

I see. So, explain where the "progressive" boundaries are in their eternal question for "democracy"?

How far does this majoritarian dream go, and at what point does it cease to be "progressive"?

I have never, EVER seen a liberal who said "whoa, we're too democratic..." Nor one express any concern that we ever WOULD be. They all talk about governing by referendum and popular public vote... And they ignore the Constitution completely, so... as far as I can see, self proclaimd progressives do want mob rule. So long as they're the ones leading the mob.
