Even though the band is getting their full fee they have lost something as a result of the discrimination against them: they lost the opportunity to play for this audience, they lost the opportunity to have another group of people hear what their music is like and possibly recommend them to friends. It's not clear that they are entirely compensated for this by payment of their full fee.

According to the linked article, a discussion started on line when one individual raised the issue about the bands racial/ethnic composition, that turned into a full blown online debate (that's what college is for) but according to the school the debate attracted non-students and there were concerns about

If I were a member of the band, I would have been highly insulted and who exactly are these "outside factions"?
