If it doesn't work by Thanksgiving, it's toast for this year.

Tech genius or ditch digger, gold bricking the government contract is a time honored practice among jerks at every federal contractor level.
There has been evidence produced already via emails that some of the contractors told the feds months ago that they were not ready and there are security risks with the website.

Sure there may be people not working hard. But that is a different problem - healthcare.gov was not ready. The people in power knew it was not ready (though Obama says he didn't know). But they said full speed ahead.

Right, but that's the government's fault for not managing contracts properly.

If you're someone who builds something for a living ... you build it according to the contract. Otherwise, you end up building, then re-building, and re-building, and re-building, every single time the client changes his/her mind*. Then you would end up losing money because the client didn't know what he/she wanted in the first place. That's why you get everything in writing beforehand.

* -- which clients are notorious for doing, especially if they are legislators

Where have you been? They did say something, and were ignored. What will it take for you to stop covering for the current administration's mistakes?
