It's sad that we only have two "choices" to choose in this country. Romney is not that much of a difference from Obama, and Obamacare was based of Mitt Romney's healthcare reform in Massaschutsetts. What different would Romney's term in office would be from Obama. And It's going to be the same thing in 2016. It's time for Americans to wake up.

There Should be a legitimate third option in this country. We should be fed up with the two party system that's basically the same thing anyways.

Actually, even a two-party system would be an improvement. As you note, the line between Democrats and Republicans can be pretty blurry. They are both driven by the same motivation - to gain and maintain power. Neither are ideological at their cores, and are more alike than different.

The idea that it would be good for the nation to be wracked to and fro from one extreme to another extreme to another extreme, is ludicrous. The reason why Republicans nominate moderates like Romney and McCain, and why Democrats nominate folks like Obama and Clinton, who in a previous generation would have been Republicans, is because they know the American people aren't stupid enough to deliberately bash the nation into pieces every four years. Progress is an incremental aspect. The proper way to move in a new direction is slowly. That's why we have Romneycare nationally instead of universal healthcare... small steps toward progress are the only practicable and responsible approach.

No, not a chance. There have always been two major parties in this nation, and there always will be.

There should be a legitimate third party in this country

It's not a conspiracy that there isn't, just that the few third parties that have even gained national recognition have been nuttier than the current two parties. Such as Perot's campaign where his vice president fell asleep during the debate, or Libertarians that go around spouting weird ideals about getting rid of public services (like cops, firefighters, and food/medicine safety), or "the Constitution Party" (not consitutional at all) that touts a Christian theocracy and getting rid of the 14th amendment that abolished slavery as parts of their primary issues.

It's not a conspiracy that third parties have failed so far in American politics. It is that the third parties in America have run a spectrum from losers to lunatics so far. Put up a platform that's not crazy with an electable person and people will vote for them. Normal people won't vote for wingnuts.

The top 4 or 5 parties should be automatically allowed in all debates. If some (or all) come off as "nutty", then people will see it and vote accordingly. It is NOT the two pseudo-party's responsibility to label other parties as "nutty" or "extreme" - that is the sole responsibility of the American People. Give the American voters a real choice instead of The Plutocratic Party that poses as a two party system of Democrats and Republicans.

I agree. I don't need Republicans and Democrats deciding which candidate I will vote for. Nor do I need them to try to spoon feed me their "lesser of two evils" crap!

I think things would have definitely been better under Romney -- better economy, more jobs, Obamacare delayed and tweaked, a functional website, etc. But apparently, voters were uninterested in any of that. Of course the media played their part to make sure they got their messiah re-elected. And that's another thing -- I don't see the media ever supporting a third party candidate. Which means that candidate will be doomed by any unflattering soundbyte, misstep, and biased moderators in fixed debates.

All you have to do is go to Minnesota to find how a health 3 party system works. As an exercise for the reader, Why is the Minnesota Democratic Party named the DFL (Democratic-Farm-Labor Party).
