NEW YORK – Could real estate on American soil owned by China be set up as “development zones” in which the communist nation could establish Chinese-owned businesses and bring in its citizens to the U.S. to work?
That’s part of an evolving proposal Beijing has been developing quietly since 2009 to convert more than $1 trillion of U.S debt it owns into equity.
President Barack Obama is set to urge leaders to boost government spending to save the world economy. European Union countries are expected to focus on fixing lax financial regulatory systems. For Asian countries, however, the key agenda issue is the safety of their assets denominated in dollars, as they look ahead to a devalued dollar from rising US sovereign debt.
We owe China USD's, nothing else. That's the deal.
They agreed to sell us all their stuff for USD.
They got those USD.
They then decided to trade those non-interest bearing USD for interest bearing USD based debt.
Their choice all along.
So all we owe them is USD.
That's the deal.
And China continues to buy our debt on their own volition:
And they found out something else: They could buy it, but they couldn't take it with them.
Joke was on them.
I was in B school back then. The profs could not get enough of Japan and lecturing us students on how we had to adopt their methods, how they would one day dominate the world of finance, and even the US itself. I argued with them back then just as I would do those who are trumpeting the coming dominance of China. Except that then, it was far more likely that Japan would "take over the world" than it is that China will ever do so.
OP, you seriously buy this stinking pile of bull****? I stopped listening and reading to conspiracy/Libertarian themed websites for this very reason. Too much kookery that was all lies
