In America we cherish the right to self defense and killing an aggressor if the need arises. Do you think you could sleep soundly at night if you killed a mugger or someone else who was threatening you, or would you feel somewhat guilty/disturbed by it even if you were justified in doing so?

Yes. I would only have difficulty IF I were unsure of my justification or if I had doubts about the circumstances. However, as you described it, I HAD to kill someone in selfdefense and I was sure of that, I would have no guilt or sleep concerns.

Probably. When I used to hunt, I always felt a slight tinge when I killed a squirrel, but it all passed when I got him fried and served.

I'd sleep like a baby given that I were confident that it was completely justifiable.

My home is well-armed, and I carry. In my head I've already done the mental gymnastics involved in such a situation and am willing to shoot without hesitation.

I agree with an individuals right to defend him/herself, but that does not mean it would not bother me. Taking a life is a serious thing, and would leave most people hoping it never happened.

Depends, If I missed with the first shot I might feel kinda bad about missing even if I got it with the next one.

lol. OK in all honesty it really depends on the circumstances. There are ones where I might feel a little bad about it, ie sorry for the person and the circumstances that got him there, but self defense has a pretty specific requirement, and once thats met....I wouldn't feel bad about the act at all.

Wouldn't bother me.

Why should I feel bad about protecting myself and my family from harm?

How would anyone know the answer to this question unless they have actually experienced it?
