Is it the thin skins that are crying here? Who cares, its a name of a teem that has been around for years. I think the NA should feel proud that someone used their name as a fierce group of warriors. Who cares if some idiot liberals hate it. They hate everything. Let em cry about it.
I found out about the recent debate re the name from an interview with a Republican congressman from Oklahoma, Tom Cole, who agrees the name should change. He's NA and finds it offensive. Could be playing to NA voters, but didn't sound like it.
If the Bullets changed to the Wizards without much uproar (changed for the violence implied by the name), this switch shouldn't be a big deal, either. I don't care either way, myself.

I thought they should not as well, until I heard this point....
If an American / Native Indian walked into your place of business (that you did not know), would you go up to them and say "Hi redskin, what brings you in?" No, no you would not as it would be awfully disrespecting. Just like we don't have the Kansas City Blacks, or the Mississippi Malattos etc.
Want to add that in a few polls something like 90% of American Indians are not offended by it, so this is likely an example of white people being offended for others that may or (more likely) may not be offended by it.
