WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. military officials insisted a top-secret Pentagon study proved the need to buy Russian helicopters for Afghanistan’s security forces. But the study actually recommended an American-made rotorcraft, according to unclassified excerpts obtained by The Associated Press.

The excerpts show the U.S. Army’s workhorse Chinook, built by Boeing Co. in Pennsylvania, was “the most cost-effective single platform type fleet for the Afghan Air Force over a 20-year” period.

Just another BILLION dollar contract for a foreign country (Russia) thanks to the Pentagon!

Some of these military officers need to be fired and retired! How much is Afghanistan costing the US now? The lives we’ve lost alone isn’t worth it, and the dollar amount for the years is crazy in of itself, but now the Pentagon officers figure out one more way to spend some money we don’t have.

Just remember that the Secretary of Defense, the Secretaries of each of the services and all the members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff are appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the Commander in Chief. Where do you want to start the purge?

And why in hell is the USA buying helicopters for Afghanistan? If they are gonna give stuff to them, give 'em our junk so we can have the new stuff.

The USA better pull out of the middle east ASAP or we are there forever, as if they have other plans. I have no idea what the end game is for hanging out there but it don't look good. WWIII is the only thing that can come of it.

We will never leave Afghanistan. There are too many natural resources that are there in the country and our corporations want it. Oil, gas and other types of minerals used in batteries are just too attractive to let someone else have. However the corporations want our government military to police and hold onto them so they can begin mining and make a profit. Halliburton wants to make money and have the military protect them.

The US will always have the military there! That’s bad enough, but to give a billion dollar contract for equipment to Russia is simply beyond belief.
