CONCORD, N.H., Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Residents of a New Hampshire neighborhood said they have not had mail delivered to their homes for more than a year due to an unruly pit bull.

The U.S. Postal Service said delivery service to Cornell Street in Concord was suspended more than a year ago when a pit bull named Levi, belonging to David Dale and his family, rushed the mail carrier "on three different occasions," ABC News reported Wednesday.

I'm not sure if the dog lover or the neighbors of the dog lover are the bigger idiots. Don't the neighbors know how to dial 911?

You have to control your dog and not let them run around. Any dog should be restrained by the owner, not just roaming around free and wild in the neighborhood. It's not just the law, but it is being a good owner and respectful of the people around you.

I have a big dog, he looks like a little bear. He is one of the nicest dogs I have ever seen, even being gentle with a friends autistic kid that was once wailing on him with a bone laying around (he just gently took the bone away and chewed on it). I would never leave him outside my fence unattended. A kid could do something stupid, another dog could get on his bad side, he could get under foot and get hurt, even another person could do something horrible to him...it's taking responsibility for your pet.

Mail carriers are not animal control, and other people do not need to put up with your dog (good or not). It's their personal space, and it is their choice. Dogs don't understand, so it is up to the owner to respect that.

In this instance I agree with the PO. The neighbors need to sue the idiot that can't control the dog.

Because he works for the government, or because he doesn't want to get mauled by a pitbull?

I have to side with the postal worker as well. Dogs just naturally charge the mail carrier. It's someone that infringes on their territory on a daily basis. It's a challenge to the dog. They don't know any better. They think the mail carrier comes, they bark and charge to scare them, the mail carrier leaves, mission accomplished.

Dog owners need to be aware of this and make sure their dogs aren't able to get at the mail carriers.

Not sure what's in the *****? I bet it's not good.

Is this a typo? Would you like to correct or explain?

We'll wait.

What?? How did this go on for a year? After a week I would've made that owner do something about it (here's a simple solution....keep your dog inside when it's time for mail delivery) or called the cops. Seriously, how did that street just let it go on for a year?
