I have a feeling that we are going to find many vets moving to the Tea Party after the budget vote.

You underestimate the destruction of the Tea Party if they were put in control. Thankfully enough people are smart enough to never let that happen.

The GOP always had an ultra-conservative constituency as a part of it's base.

This constituency morphed into a "Tea Party" that supposedly was more independent in nature.

The "Tea Party" has morphed back into the ultra-conservative segment of the GOP.

For all intents and purposes ... the "Tea Party" is dead. The Democrats just like conjuring up the spectre of the "Tea Party" to scare it's liberal base.

Right Obama care is a great example of what happens when there is no tea party to reign them in

Well, there is a website ... but organizations of any importance have headquarters, elected officers, a board of directors, a dues-paying membership, are incorporated, have regular meetings and usually hold an annual convention. Do they meet all these criteria?

I do not doubt that some people identify with the "Tea Party" banner, but as an important political party or even a national organization independent of the Republican Party or Democratic Party or Libertarian Party, I have serious doubts. They seem to be a constituency within the GOP (not all Republicans identify with them) and not much else.

It's not a political party. As I described earlier in the thread, it's nothing more than a set of ideals.

If you support a smaller central government that's limited by the Constitution (which is the document that defines that government), free market principles and fiscal responsibility, you support the TEA Party movement. It really is that simple.

Wanting lower taxes will never die as long as the government finds new ways to pick our pockets through mandated legislation.. the latest biggest tax hike on the people is Obamacare.. have fun trying to pay your bills as the government takes more of your paychecks.

How much of your paycheck does the government actually take when you file your taxes?

Why are you asking? Do you think the government doesn't take enough in taxes?
