It will be interesting to see if the shop does actually remodel and reconfigure itself, or not.
In any case, if employees want increased wages, the way to do it would be to show that they are worth more by producing more. Increase the shop's income. If there is no increase in productivity, how can there be an increase in wages?
Sorry, I find no humor in people loosing their jobs, especially at Christmas.
They have the right to protest under the law, just as the owner has the right to pay the wages he chooses, and I would not be surprised if this gets challenged in court under the labor laws. You generally don't fire people when you close to remodel, you lay them off and call them back when you reopen. I hope the employees sue.

The "remodeling" will be to replace the old workers with new ones.
In a right to work state like Alabama if you don't show up for 4 days protesting you might as well stay home afterwards. You're fired. Good for the owners standing up to the damn unions.

"Loosing"? I don't even know what that means.
Employees do NOT have the right to not show up for work. If they want to protest, they can do so on their own time.

Because they will be needing to make their own clothes? (sorry, I do typo's all the time, nothing personal I just couldn't resist in this case)
