He's right. There is no need for another black president. We also don't need another white president. Or any specific race/ethnicity, for that mattter.

According to Voigt, the student misinterpreted his comment. He stands accused of violating board policies related to staff ethics, staff-student relations and harassment.
I would like to know the context of the conversation.
[and if the student wants to be president one day, then he's going to need tougher skin]
Did somebody say racist? Jesse and Al should be on a plane to ohio as we speak. It appears Jesse 's last effort at extortion fell flat, he might be able to work something here.
Id like to see the context and actual words used. But if it was as suggested, where he responded with that to a black student who said he wanted to be POTUS, then obviously the firing was warranted.
The teacher was out of line with how he stated his opinion. He deserved to be suspended. Now if he had explained it like some posters posted. We don't need a President of any specific race or gender we need a President who will put the nation before his ego, party and lobbyists he would have been fine.

Exactly...a better response would have been.."Well you surely couldnt do any worse than the first black President."

I can't imagine a context in which a comment such as this would be appropriate ~ but my imagination isn't all that great.
