Then why is your state of Texas trying to get drones flying in your skies? Shouldn't you be outraged over your Republicans that are trying to do this to their own people?
What makes u think the OP isnt outraged? he did create a thread about it after all
If they can hack TARGET they can hack the drones. I cannot wait for this technology to be used by private industry (beyond Real Estate companies) to verify individuals wealth, transport and location. Kind of like "Dark Angel" without the star.

Maybe the Republicans in Texas arent as paranoid as some of these C-D posters?
According to the linked article - there is no money attached to these Drone test sites. Last time I checked - both New York and Nevada were not Red Southern States. I think many would claim that Alaska and North Dakota are in the South.
Quote:
Representatives from winning states were jubilant about the FAA announcement and the likelihood that the testing will draw companies interested in cashing in on the fledgling industry.
"This is wonderful news for Nevada that creates a huge opportunity for our economy," said U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nevada.
U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, a New York Democrat, called the announcement a "slam dunk" for central and northern New York.
The competition for a test site was robust, Huerta said, as 25 entities in 24 states submitted proposals. At least one of the six sites chosen will be up and running within 180 days, while the others are expected to come online in quick succession, he said during a conference call with reporters. The designations don't come with a financial award from the government.
While selecting the sites, the FAA considered geography, climate, ground infrastructure, research needs, airspace use, aviation experience and risk.
As far as Texas is concerned - I know of at least one City in Texas that has it's own Drone.
The locations in Texas are either near Texas Air Bases of some sort or near University programs involved in Drone Technology and a couple of 'odd' cases ...... like the that is South of Fort Stockton. That would put it right in the Texas Big Bend area on the Texas Border. Texas is already using some Drones on the Border. A lot of different terrain and chances for testing over the Gulf.
All of this appears to be aimed at Testing different conditions and topography for possible FAA flight rules and for commercial use. There are many possible applications on a commercial basis.
The Media is so lazy - both the articles listed in this thread so a file photo of a Predator. These 'test sites' are not going to be testing Predators - 1) They are very large. 2) They are very expensive.
Don't these writers know there are many types of drones in all sizes for a variety of applications. Lazy, Lazy

Does it really matter what type of drones are being tested? Most drones are simply used to spy on people period, so if there is someone outside your window using binoculors, or a telescope to peep inside your bathroom window, does the detail of what was used reallymatter?

Lol the police departments are using those little drones anyone can buy online for $300
Don't tell these conspiracy theorist about those Helicopters, they'll probably crap their pants and run for the bunkers.
We have become a nation of drones and cameras... the cameras are everywhere.. they are there for a reason and it isn't for traffic! It is big brother and they will take over soon. We will be a totalitarianism state before long. They are moving right along with the infrastructure.
