In politics, why is it that liberals/Democrats hold conservatives/Republicans to such high standards, standards that are clearly higher than the ones they hold for themselves?
This just seems to be a recurring theme among liberals, and this Chris Christie non-issue is the latest example. Republicans are supposed to be perfect, yet Democrats are more than willing to let other Democrat's slide.
You might disagree with GOP policy, but Republicans hold other Republicans to much higher standards as evidenced by the Tea Party. Yeh, you might not like the Tea Party, but at least there's some accountability required for establishment republicans.
Another good example is George W. Bush's approval rating. He had close to 25% toward the end of his term as even Republicans abandoned the ship, but Obama enjoys a floor of 40% and nothing will ever change that.

Isn't your saying the Christie thing is a non issue an example of what you are accusing? Wouldn't you hold him to a higher standard?
This is in reference to what? Christie is being a punching bag because he managed to p*ss off a large number of New Jersey residents that commute on the GW Bridge.
Uh, would this be the same Tea Party that brought us the government shutdown, and then tried to blame Obama for it?
In any case, when Christie himself is groveling in front of the press for nearly two hours, you don't get to say it's a non-issue, and you certainly can't shut down a major public artery for political retribution, and have it not be a story.
They don't. They do try to expose hypocrisy so if someone is attempting to take away equal protection from gays but turns out to be gay himself then that is a story simply because of the hypocrisy factor but only because of the hypocrisy factor.
Can Democrats name one faction in the Democrat party challenging their status quo? Anyone? Anyone? GOP has Libertarians, who do the Dems have?
You're just pissed because the Republican party is coming apart at the seams and the Democrats are fairly unified at the moment. Poor baby.
